Tricia & James (Montreal)

What a blast! This was a really fun shoot, multiple locations and no rushing to get the lovely couple to a reception hall. That's right no timelines, we did the shoot weeks after the actual wedding and I highly recommend you pitch that option to your clients if the circumstances permit it.  The shoot really felt like an engagement portrait session which allows the couple to relax and let loose, plus the bride gets to wear that beautiful dress again!

Here's a sneak peak at a few of the photographs from that day. Thanks again for a great day Tricia and James!

Scenic landscapes with portrait processing

I was at the Mont Royal park in Montreal last weekend where there are beautiful opportunities for landscape / nature photography. This isn't normally my passion in photography but I decided to try something a little different. The idea was to shoot the landscapes but with the intent to process all the shots the same way I would for a portrait shoot. There's normally a certain style I like to end up with for my portrait work but I've never extended that style to my landscapes. It was a fun process and who knows I just might do it again!

Just run with it!

I was recently in Mont Trenblant to participate in a team triathlon (great way to get started in triathlons) and was able to venture out while the sun was setting to take a few photographs. The warming sunset and lake were providing for beautiful landscape images, however it was the simplicity of a fence in this light that caught my full attention. Immediately the plan changed and I was snapping all kinds of angles from this fence. I'm sure people around me thought I was crazy given the picturesque sunset/lake shots available but everyone has those shots and now I have something a little different.

The top of the fence was interesting but it was the super soft and colorful background that I knew would really tie the photo together. I was shooting with a 70-200mm F4 to get this look.

Have fun out there!
